Finally, FUBA second round kicks off

Following the July 11 bomb blasts in the city, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) postponed hosting the opening games of the second round of the MTN FUBA league to today July 30. The matches are to be played at the YMCA grounds at Wandegeya.

The league was initially scheduled to open last Sunday but a letter from the FUBA technical committee caused the change. In the letter, the committee said, "Due to security clearance issues for now, we regret to inform you that the league has been postponed to next Friday, today July 30th.

However, Donan Byabazaire, a member on the technical committee and FUBA president Ambrose Tashobya said that now everything is in place for the second round of the league to start. "We have done our best, we've talked to OC police Wandegeya and DPC, to ensure that everything necessary for the league to go on is in place," Byambazaire said.

The league is slated to open at 5pm with Women league champions KCC Leopards battling it out with A1 Challenge, the unbeaten club in the league.
Later at 7:30pm, the court will feature the men's league champions, Kyambogo Warriors who will be in a 'do or die' game tussling with Falcons, the former champions who will also be fighting to regain their pride.

UCU and D'Mark Powers are other clubs looking forward to win this year's FUBA title from Warriors.

Today, Friday,
A1 Challenge V KCC Leopards 5pm
Falcons V Warriors 7:30pm
