Kampala Parents’ School Honors Late Rajiv Ruparelia at Annual Sports Gala

Kampala Parents’ School paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Rajiv Ruparelia during its annual Sports Gala on Saturday, August 23, recognising his immense contributions to the institution’s growth and transformation. The honour was received by his father, city businessman and school chairman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the family.

The gala, held at the school grounds, blended athletics, cultural showcases, and academic exhibitions, reflecting the institution’s holistic approach to education.

“Our sports gala is more than just athletics. It is a celebration of teamwork, discipline, cultural pride, and the all-round development of our children,” said Headteacher Daphine Kato, noting that the recognition of Rajiv’s legacy was long overdue. “His unwavering support was instrumental in positioning Kampala Parents’ School as a leader in Uganda.”

Students displayed their talents both on and off the field. The day featured competitive races, football, netball, and spirited house parades that drew energetic cheers from parents and teachers. Away from the sports grounds, pupils staged cultural performances, including traditional dances, and showcased skills in preparing local dishes such as matoke. Exhibits from recent educational tours were also displayed, underlining the school’s commitment to blending academics with practical, cultural, and social experiences.

Minister of Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, joined the celebrations alongside several dignitaries, parents, and alumni, reinforcing the school’s reputation as a hub for nurturing future leaders.

In her address, Kato emphasised that the gala embodies the institution’s philosophy of producing well-rounded learners. “We believe in nurturing children who are not only academically excellent but also physically fit, socially responsible, and culturally aware,” she said.

The event concluded in high spirits, with students, parents, and staff celebrating not only sporting victories but also Kampala Parents’ School’s enduring commitment to heritage, innovation, and excellence—values to which Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy has greatly contributed.
