The Senior One selection exercise for learners who sat the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) will take place from Thursday, February 12, to Friday, February 13, at UMA Multipurpose Hall, Lugogo in Kampala.
The exercise is important for thousands of candidates and parents across the country, as schools begin choosing learners to join Senior One.
Some popular schools have increased their cut-off points after strong performance in the PLE results, while others have lowered them slightly to fill remaining spaces.
Education officials say cut-off points usually depend on how candidates performed nationally and how many vacancies a school has.
While top government-aided schools are expected to remain highly competitive, many private schools are ready to admit learners who meet the basic pass mark, depending on school fees.
Education experts continue to advise parents not to focus only on a few big-name schools, saying good support, discipline, and hard work also play a big role in a learner’s future success.
The two-day selection exercise will help determine where many learners will begin their secondary school education.
