Ssebagala ends alliance with NRM, resigns Museveni job

Former Kampala Mayor Nasser Ntegge Ssebagala has resigned as senior presidential advisor to concentrate on a “political comeback”.

Speaking to journalists in Kampala Monday Ssebagala also told journalists he was regretful that he changed his original stand against dictatorship and instead joined it.

He also announced he would divorce himself from NRM and also apologised to his supporters for joining the “yellow bus”.

While appearing on NBS Television recently, which would end his alliance with the NRM party.

Ssebagala, who campaigned for President Museveni in 2011, was appointed minister Without Portfolio but Parliament rejected his nomination on grounds that his moral and academic records were questionable and suspect.

However, President Museveni in 2012, appointed him as a senior presidential advisor in charge of special duties.

In a letter addressed to President Museveni, Ssebagala said his expectations in regard to government performance had fallen short of  expectation adding: “I joined you, your Excellency on the understanding that things in the country would change for the better. Unfortunately matters of the economy, democratic governance and accountability have gotten worse.”
