S.4 results; Joy and tears in same home

There was a sense of mixed emotions in the home of Hajj Sulaiman Kafeero in Kitende, was sobbing profusely after getting his results. But his mother Mariam Kafeero was overjoyed by her son’s record-breaking performance.

To Azharu’s mother, scoring 15 points from eight subjects in last years Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), including outstanding performances in sciences, was a source of pride and worthy of celebration.

But Azharu was targeting 12 points. In fact, Azharu had achieved distinction 1 from three of the toughest subjects; Mathematics, Physics and Technical Drawing.

His performance put him in 5th place out of 220 very brilliant students at Kibuli S.S.

As a matter of fact, according to UNEB’s 2016 UCE results, Azharu was one of the very few students who scored distinction 1 in Physics. He went ahead to garner the best performance in Technical Drawing at Kibuli with a D-1, according to his mother, a kind of performance that had eluded the school for many years.

Azharu’s mother could not hide her excitement when she told The Sunrise that: “I am extremely grateful to Allah for my son’s performance. I pray that he maintains this performance at senior six and beyond.”

For Azharu, focus is now set to shift towards consolidating his ambition of becoming a civil engineer. And for Hajj Kafeero, a reward of a cow to Azharu, besides praising Allah, was a well deserved way to say thank you to his son.
