UNEB clears Migereko’s opponent
The Uganda National Examination Board has authenticated the academic papers for the aspiring Member of Parliament for Butembe County in Jinja District, Nelson Lufaafa.
This week, the NRM Electoral Commission boss Dr Tanga Odoi disqualified Lufafa’s candidature in the NRM primaries saying there were queries with his Uganda certificate of education papers.
However, in a letter dated September 17, 2015, addressed to the NRM Electoral Commission signed by the Executive secretary of UNEB Mathew Bukenya, UNEB clarifies that Lufaafa Nelson’s academic papers are genuine.
Part of the letter reads “when printing Certificates result 5, 6, T, U and V are all merged into division 4. Result 6 in the letter of verification of Results issued to Lufafa Nelson is the same as division 4 which is reflected on his certificate’.
In the letter Bukenya says Lufafa qualifies to pursue an advancedcourse of the Examination of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.
Lufafa according to his academic papers sat for his UCE at Mbalehigh in 1997 and later advanced certificate of education at GatewayHigh school Muguluka last year.
Through his lawyers of Luganda, Ojok and Co. Advocates, Lufafa now compels the NRM electoral boss Dr Tanga Odoi to apologize for the statements he uttered claiming Lufafa lacks the required qualifications to stand for MP.
Alex Luganda the lead Consul told journalists in Jinja on Friday evening that they have already filed a case against Tanga Odoi in Jinja High court.
Asked whether he was behind the woes of his opponents, the Butembe member of parliament and also minister for lands, housing and urban development Daudi Migereko said he was neither working on the electoral commission of NRM nor in UNEB.
“I do not personally decide who stands against me neither do I elect myself, the voters have a right to choose their own leaders and I cannot stop anyone, let my brother solve his issues and we wait for the day of judgement,” Migereko said.
