The Sunrise shines at World Press Freedom Day
The Sunrise Editor Henry Lutaaya receiving his Award for excellence
The Sunrise newspaper was in the spotlight this week after our Editor Henry Lutaaya scooped an award in recognition of the paper’s resilient reporting on violations of media freedom in Uganda.
The Executive Director of the Human Rights Centre Uganda, Margaret Ssekaggya presided over the awards ceremony during events held to commemorate May 3, World Press Freedom Day at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala.
The awards were organized by the Human Rights Network of Journalists Uganda (HRNJ) which also received the prestigious Commonwealth Press Association (CPA) Award, given to the most outstanding media organization across the commonwealth family for its role in defending the rights of journalists.
