President Museveni outlines plans for education, health, infrastructure, and economic growth in Madi Okollo.
General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential candidate, has pledged to ensure fair access to free universal education for all residents of Madi Okollo district during his next term in office.
Speaking at a presidential campaign rally held at Ajai Playgrounds, Museveni revealed that of the 69 government-run primary schools in the district, only 32 parishes out of 46 currently benefit from them. He vowed to correct this disparity by redistributing the existing primary schools more equitably and constructing five additional secondary schools in the underserved sub-counties.
He emphasized that this effort is part of his broader plan to fully implement free universal education for every child in Uganda. Additionally, Museveni promised to elevate Rhino Camp Health Center IV to the status of a General District Hospital and to upgrade all Health Center IIIs within the district’s 12 sub-counties.
While health centers are already evenly distributed across Madi Okollo, Museveni noted that the main missing link is a general district hospital, something he committed to establishing as a top priority if re-elected. This health pledge was also made during the rally at Ajai Playgrounds.
On economic matters, Museveni urged residents to focus on boosting household-level wealth creation as the government continues rolling out broader development programs. He highlighted the 14 billion shillings that have already been allocated to 13,796 beneficiaries through various initiatives, including the Parish Development Model, youth livelihood programs, and support schemes for women and the elderly.
He further advised citizens not to conflate personal wealth-building with state-driven infrastructure development. "Each parish receives 100 million shillings annually for local initiatives," he noted, stressing that this funding is meant to empower grassroots-level economic growth.
Turning to infrastructure, Museveni announced that several road projects in Madi Okollo district are slated for tarmacking between 2025 and 2026. He assured residents that under the Ministry of Works and Transport's national roads maintenance program, poor road conditions in the district would be addressed and resolved.
