The Electoral Commission of Uganda has announced that Wednesday, 4th February 2026, has been appointed as the polling day for Local Government Council Elections in Butebo District and in various electoral areas nationwide where polling was previously not conducted or concluded.

In Butebo District, this follows the postponement of elections for District Chairperson, Directly Elected District Councillors, and District Women Councillors, originally scheduled before 22nd January 2026. The Commission has confirmed that, in line with the approved Electoral Commission Roadmap, voters will now cast their votes on 4th February 2026.

On election day, voters in Butebo District will participate in choosing:

- District Chairperson

- Directly Elected District Councillors

- District Women Councillors

- Sub County Chairpersons

- Sub County Directly-elected Councillors

- Sub County/Town Council Women Councillors

Meanwhile, in other affected areas across Uganda, elections will be conducted for positions including:

- Chairpersons

- Directly Elected Councillors

- Women Councillors

- Councillors representing Special Interest Groups (Youths, Older Persons, Workers, and Persons with Disabilities – PWDs)

Polling in all areas will take place at designated polling stations and electoral college venues from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with counting of votes and declaration of results commencing immediately after the close of polling.

Political parties and independent candidates are advised that they may deploy a maximum of two (2) polling agents per polling station in the affected electoral areas.

The Electoral Commission calls upon all stakeholders and voters to participate peacefully and to observe the electoral laws and guidelines, urging everyone to exercise their voting rights responsibly.
