President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has named city lawyer Lino Anguzu as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Before this appointment, Anguzu served as the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions and Deputy Head of the International Crimes Department in the Office of the DPP.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the President’s Senior Press Secretary, Sandor Walusimbi.
"H.E Kaguta Museveni has appointed Mr. Lino Anguzu as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Mr. Anguzu, who has been serving as Assistant DPP, replaces Justice Jane Frances Abodo, recently appointed Principal Judge. The President has forwarded his name to Parliament’s Appointments Committee for approval," Sandor Walusimbi said.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) had been without a substantive head for nearly a month, following the appointment of the then DPP, Justice Jane Frances Abodo, to the position of Principal Judge.
