As Battle Group Forty Five (BGXLV) prepares for deployment on a peacekeeping mission in Somalia, its troops have been strongly urged to uphold discipline and professionalism.
Brigadier General Fred Mwesigye, the acting Commander of the 1 Infantry Division, emphasized this message during the conclusion of a two-week pre-mission ideology training held at the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO-TC) in Nakaseke District. Highlighting the critical role of discipline in military success, he stated, “There is no shortcut to success. Maintain discipline at all times.”
He further pointed out that qualities such as loyalty, respect, and good health are vital attributes of a disciplined soldier. Brig. Gen. Mwesigye also encouraged the troops to embrace financial literacy and develop a habit of saving to support their personal growth.
Colonel Moses Nabaasa, Commandant of IPSO-TC, congratulated the soldiers on completing the course. He praised their dedication, discipline, and commitment throughout the training period.
Representing the trainees, Lieutenant Colonel Morris Kyatooko Twongeirwe, who serves as the second-in-command of BGXLV, assured those present that the group would uphold the core values instilled during the course and continue to reflect positively on the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
The event was also attended by the Chief Instructor, along with senior and junior officers from IPSO-TC.
