Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has extended generous support to Muslim communities in Kampala as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a gesture of goodwill and solidarity, Gen. Kainerugaba donated assorted food items to a Muslim congregation led by Sheikh Mbogo. The items were officially delivered by Lt Col Emmanuel Rutemba, Head of Civil-Military Cooperation in the office of the Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations.

The donation followed a request from the Muslim community and aimed to support families during the Eid festivities. In his message, Gen. Kainerugaba congratulated Muslims upon successfully completing Ramadan and wished them good health, peace, and blessings during Eid.

Receiving the items, Sheikh Mbogo expressed deep appreciation for the support, praising the CDF’s leadership and responsiveness to community needs. He noted that the contribution would greatly assist members of the congregation during the celebrations.

In a related effort ahead of Eid, the UPDF also supported vulnerable Muslim groups in areas such as Nakulabye, including members of the Al-Wihida Development Group in Bukesa Katende Zone.

The donation was delivered by Col John Bosco Kalyango, Head of Plans in the Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation. He urged Muslims to uphold the values of peace, discipline, and unity practiced during Ramadan even after the fasting period.

According to Col Kalyango, the initiative was in response to a request by Hajjat Nakizito Ramulatu, a community leader of the Al-Wihida Development Group, who sought support for her members during Ramadan.

“We ensured that the UPDF shares the little it has with the community as part of our commitment to serve beyond self,” he said.

Hajjat Nakizito commended Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his leadership and for instilling discipline within the army, which made it easy for civilians to access support. She also appreciated Maj Gen Henry Masiko for facilitating the donation.

Residents of Bukesa Katende Zone welcomed the assistance, describing it as timely and impactful as they prepared to celebrate Eid.

The UPDF’s continued outreach highlights its role not only in national security but also in community support and humanitarian efforts, especially during important religious occasions.
