Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi Calls for Registration of Ugandans in UAE, Dismisses False Deportation Claims
The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Abu Dhabi has called on all Ugandans living in the United Arab Emirates to register their presence through an official online link as part of efforts to improve consular services and emergency response.
In a media address issued on April 2, 2026, from Abu Dhabi, the Embassy stated that the registration exercise is intended to support the delivery of key services, including visiting Ugandans in prisons and hospitals, coordinating repatriation, and providing other forms of assistance when needed.
The Embassy explained that collecting accurate information about Ugandans residing in the UAE will enable it to respond more quickly to emergencies and plan more effectively. It noted that the data will also help determine how many Ugandans are living in different Emirates, which is important for organizing services and outreach.
According to the statement, registration will also improve communication between the Embassy and Ugandans abroad by making it easier to share timely updates and important information from both the UAE and Uganda. This includes issuing advisories on various matters and supporting the mobilization of the diaspora for development as well as social and cultural unity through associations and conventions.
The Embassy also addressed misinformation surrounding the exercise, warning against claims that the registration is intended for taxation or deportation. It described such reports as false and urged individuals spreading the information to stop.
Ugandans living in the UAE have been encouraged to complete the registration using the official link provided by the Embassy, which is also available on its website and social media platforms. The Embassy emphasized that the initiative is aimed at strengthening support systems for Ugandans abroad and ensuring better coordination in times of need.
