Posta Uganda has launched its Strategic Plan, Client Charter and Service Delivery Standards, marking a significant step towards improving service delivery, strengthening accountability and repositioning the institution within Uganda's communication and logistics sector.

The documents were unveiled during an event held at the Uganda Media Centre.

Speaking at the launch, Chairperson of the Posta Uganda Board of Directors, Mr. Kirunda Sulaiman Balyejussa, said the initiatives demonstrate the institution's commitment to transforming its operations and responding more effectively to the needs of its clients.

He said the new frameworks are intended to modernize Posta Uganda's operations and ensure the institution remains relevant, efficient and customer-focused in an evolving service environment.

Balyejussa added that Posta Uganda aims to reclaim its position as a leading service provider by building on its nationwide infrastructure, government support, experienced workforce and leadership.

He also commended the Board and management for developing the Strategic Plan, Client Charter and Service Delivery Standards through consultations, benchmarking and stakeholder engagement.

According to Balyejussa, the three documents will guide operations across Posta Uganda's more than 100 branches nationwide, promoting consistency, accountability and improved service delivery. He also encouraged members of the public to continue using Posta Uganda's services and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.

The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, officially launched the documents, describing the initiative as part of the government's commitment to improving accountability and bringing public services closer to citizens.

She said the Service Delivery Standards provide clear timelines for various services, enabling government institutions to measure performance and improve efficiency while ensuring citizens know what to expect.

Lumumba also revealed that Posta Uganda is working with the Ministry of Public Service and other government agencies to establish one-stop government service centres at Posta Uganda offices.

The centres will bring together services offered by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), among other government institutions.

She said the integrated service model is expected to reduce the time and cost citizens incur when accessing government services.

The programme will also be extended to sub-regional and district levels by utilising Posta Uganda's existing infrastructure, reducing the need for citizens to travel long distances to access government services.

The initiative forms part of the government's broader efforts to improve access to public services for both Ugandans and non-Ugandans.
