
Official Release of 2025 UCE Results
The Minister of Education and Sports, Hon Janet Museveni, has officially released the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination results.
A total of 432,163 candidates registered for the exam. Out of these, 429,949 (99.5%) sat for the exam, while 2,214 (0.5%) were absent. This decline in absenteeism reflects improved learner retention, participation, and efficiency across examination centres.
Compared to 2024, the 2025 UCE results show marked improvement in both attendance and pass rates.
Qualification Rates and Result Breakdown
Out of the candidates who sat for the exam:
- Result 1: 428,628 candidates (99.69%) qualified for the UCE certificate. This outcome is reflected on both transcripts and certificates.
- Result 2: 1,243 candidates (0.29%) did not meet all award requirements, such as missing project scores, sitting fewer subjects than required, or lacking Continuous Assessment scores.
- Result 3: 78 candidates (0.02%) scored below the basic level (Grade E) in all subjects.
The percentage of candidates who did not qualify dropped significantly from 1.9% in 2024 to 0.31% in 2025, highlighting overall improvement in performance.

Gender and USE/Non-USE Performance
- Male candidates: 204,292 (47.3%)
- Female candidates: 227,871 (52.7%)
- USE students: 154,642 (35.8%)
- Non-USE students: 277,521 (64.2%)
According to Dan Odongo, UNEB, overall attendance reached 99.5%, with absenteeism declining compared to previous years.
Subject Performance Highlights
In 2025, more candidates achieved Grade C and above than in 2024, particularly in:
- English
- Geography
- Christian Religious Education (CRE)
- Sciences
In sciences, the number of candidates scoring below the basic level dropped significantly, reflecting improved outcomes under the Competency-Based Curriculum.
“Uganda’s education system has embraced this reform, where the traditional school curriculum emphasizes academics alongside practical skills,” said Janet Museveni.
How to Check Your UCE Results
For Schools
Results are currently uploaded on examination centre portals, allowing schools to download them directly. Hard copies are not yet available, but centres will be notified when they can be collected from UNEB offices in Kyambogo.
