The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Deputy Commander of Land Forces, Maj Gen Francis Takirwa, has praised the professionalism and endurance of Battle Group 41 as the contingent concluded its deployment in Somalia under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission.
Maj Gen Takirwa delivered the remarks on Friday at the International Peace Support Operations Training Centre (IPSO-TC) in Ssingo, where Battle Group 41 was officially received after completing its mission. Turning to the outgoing contingents, he expressed confidence in their readiness and urged them to remain disciplined, mission-oriented, and committed to the values of the force. He reminded them of the purpose behind their deployment, emphasizing, “Let us not forget that our main goal is peace. Please maintain discipline while on mission.”
Col Moses Nabaasa, the Commandant of IPSO-TC, highlighted that the pre-deployment training had been conducted by UPDF instructors and commended the personnel for their dedication throughout the preparation period.
Battle Group 41’s commander, Col Michael Walaka Hyeroba, extended gratitude to the UPDF leadership and IPSO-TC for the continuous guidance and support offered to the contingent during its mission.
