The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Friday inspected final parade preparations ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Yoweri Museveni scheduled for Tuesday, 12th May 2026.
Speaking at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds during the final rehearsals, Gen. Kainerugaba urged participants to sharpen their drills and ensure a perfect parade ahead of the national ceremony.
While thanking the troops for their efforts, which he said had already produced a good display, the CDF stressed the significance of the parade as a symbol of the military’s strength, discipline and readiness.
Gen. Kainerugaba noted that guests attending the inauguration ceremony should witness a flawless performance without glitches and called on parade commanders and participants to leave no room for error.
The rehearsals formed part of the final preparations for the swearing-in event, which is expected to attract senior government officials, diplomats, military leaders and invited guests from across the region.
The occasion was attended by Inspector General of Police Abass Byakagaba, Commissioner General of Prisons Johnson Byabashaija, Commander of Land Forces Kayanja Muhanga, Air Force Commander Charles Okidi and other senior military and security officials.
Security personnel, parade units and participating teams spent the day conducting coordinated drills and ceremonial rehearsals as preparations entered the final phase ahead of Tuesday’s ceremony.
Authorities have also continued tightening security and logistical arrangements within Kampala as the country prepares for the inauguration ceremony at Kololo.
Meanwhile, residents of the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area have been informed of a planned special aerial display ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.
According to a public notice issued ahead of the event, President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to deliver a special thank-you message following his election victory on Monday, 11th May 2026 at exactly 8:00 p.m.
The notice states that the message will be delivered through a drone show-style aerial display in the skies of Kampala and is expected to last approximately 14 minutes.
