The Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) has released the shortlist of successful candidates who will proceed to the next stage of the 2026 General Recruitment Exercise.
According to a notice issued by the UPDF, applicants who participated in the recruitment exercise can now check their names through the official UPDF website, UPDF official website, or at their respective City and District Headquarters.
The shortlisted candidates will proceed to Phase Three of the recruitment process, which involves physical recruitment exercises. The UPDF said dates and schedules for this stage will be communicated later through its official channels.
Candidates who have been shortlisted have been advised to prepare the required documents before reporting for the exercise. These include a handwritten application letter with recommendations from local leaders and security officials, an original National Identity Card or NIN, academic documents and certified graduate documents where applicable, as well as three coloured passport-size photographs.
The UPDF also reminded the public that recruitment into the force is free of charge and warned applicants against individuals claiming to offer recruitment assistance in exchange for money.
The force urged members of the public to report any suspected cases of fraud to the nearest Police Station, District Internal Security Officer (DISO), or UPDF unit.
The UPDF said the recruitment exercise is aimed at strengthening a professional force guided by discipline, patriotism, and Pan-Africanism.
