Uganda to borrow USD251m for refugees
Government has moved to borrow US$251m from the World Bank to fund water projects in refugee hosting and boarder districts of Uganda.
While addressing journalists at the Media Centre recently Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, said that a cabinet meeting on Monday approved the proposal.
“This money will be used to finance the Integrated Water Project in refugee hosting districts and border districts to improve on their sanitation and access to clean water,” Tumwebaze said.
The districts to benefit from the loan include Hoima, Kamwenge, Kabarole, Budaka, Moyo, Busia, Adjumani, Gulu, Butaleja, Mbale, Kyegegwa, Yumbe and Budaka among others.
