The 3rd annual Uganda convention UAE set to boost trade between Uganda and UAE

Kampala, Uganda – In a bid to boost trade relations between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as promote Ugandan made products and services in UAE, the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi in partnership with the Association of Ugandans in UAE (AUU) have organised a 4-day Convention in Dubai.

The Convention which will run from 15th to 18th October 2019 at Hyatt Regency Dubai under the theme “Joining hands to seize opportunities” is expected to attract thousands of business men and women from Uganda and UAE.

Speaking in relation to the Convention Mr. Muawiya Mukasa Ambassador AUU Convention said, “UAE is currently the number one destination for Uganda’s exports. According to a 2016/17 Uganda Bureau of Statistics Report, export values increased from USD35 Million in 2014 to USD600 Million in 2017, we believe that UAE holds so much trade opportunities that can benefit the business community in Uganda,”

The theme for this year’s Convention is in tandem with the theme for the Dubai Expo2020 in which Uganda chose the theme ‘Park of Opportunity’.

Mr. Mukasa noted that the major objectives of the 3rd Annual Uganda Convention UAE are to build the capacity of interested participants from Uganda on the UAE export processes, promote Ugandan made products and services in different sectors such as agro produce, textile, tourism, manufacturing, minerals, real estate, and ICT in UAE, and to create partnerships that can promote more resilient trade between Uganda and UAE.

He mentioned that the Convention is expected to attract policy makers from Uganda and UAE, companies from UAE that intend to penetrate into the Ugandan market, Ugandan manufacturers, real estate dealers, tour and travel companies, as well as agro processors among others.

“The Government of Uganda through the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi and other line ministries such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Parliament and others are already on board, we believe that the Convention will go a long way in boosting trade between Uganda and UAE. We therefore invite every business owner or manufacturer in Uganda to be part of it,” he said.

Mr. Mukasa also said that participants are free to choose from 3 (three) exclusive types of packages for their travel arrangements that have been designed by the AUU committee to accommodate the varying preferences and incomes of would be participants without putting a big dent in their pockets.

He concluded by inviting all participants for a consultative meeting on Friday, 19th July 2019 at Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
