China Town Expands with New Store at Akamwesi Mall
China Town, a prominent supermarket in Kampala, has expanded its footprint with the launch of a new store at Akamwesi Mall along the Kampala-Gayaza Road.
The grand opening, held on Thursday, was officiated by Kawempe Division Resident City Commissioner, Hajji Noor Njuki Mbabali, who lauded the supermarket’s role in creating employment opportunities and offering competitively priced products to Ugandans.
“Such investors who not only provide employment for Ugandans but also sell products at lower prices are what the country needs. We need to support them,” Mbabali stated.
The new store will stock a diverse range of products, including household essentials, electronics, fashion items, and groceries, catering to a broad customer base. During the launch event, shoppers flooded the store to take advantage of special discounts and promotions.
To mark the occasion, China Town supermarket introduced a promotional campaign, offering customers who spent Shs200,000 or more a chance to win special gifts through a grand draw. The initiative generated excitement among shoppers eager to maximize their purchases.
The Akamwesi Mall outlet becomes China Town’s second store in Kampala, following the successful opening of its first branch at Lugogo Shopping Mall last year.
Officials from the supermarket emphasized that this expansion underscores their commitment to providing affordable shopping options for Ugandans, with plans for further growth in the future.
As the retail sector in Uganda continues to grow, China Town’s expansion reflects the increasing demand for budget-friendly shopping alternatives, reinforcing its position in the market.
