The Germany–Uganda Coffee Origin Familiarisation Tour has successfully concluded at the MAAIF Coffee Laboratory & Cupping Facility located at the UMA Show Grounds Lugogo, marking a major milestone in strengthening coffee trade relations between Uganda and Germany.
The tour brought together a delegation of German coffee roasters, buyers, and quality assurance experts who engaged deeply with Uganda’s coffee sector. They explored the entire coffee value chain, from farm-level production to export certification, gaining firsthand experience of Uganda’s internationally recognized coffee systems.
Throughout the visit, the delegation assessed Uganda’s quality assurance frameworks, sustainable production methods, and its premium Arabica and Robusta coffee varieties. The engagements highlighted Uganda’s growing reputation in the global coffee market, particularly its strong flavor profiles, transparent certification processes, and commitment to international quality standards.
Uganda currently exports over 6 million bags of coffee annually and supports more than 1.8 million households dependent on the coffee sector. The visit is expected to unlock new opportunities for specialty coffee partnerships, increased export volumes, value addition, tourism, and long-term market access in Europe.
Industry stakeholders noted that the tour further strengthens both economic and diplomatic relations between Uganda and Germany. It also positions Uganda as a reliable global coffee origin focused on sustainability, traceability, and excellence across the entire coffee value chain.
The successful conclusion of the tour is expected to open new doors for investment and deepen Uganda’s presence in premium European coffee markets.
