We always listen to and enjoy artiste’s songs on different media platforms. We enjoy the lyrics but never have we bothered to discover how our favorite songs get on air. Sunrise reporter hooked up with Muvistar one of Uganda’s growing promoters who makes efforts in moving artiste’s music to radio, television, websites, clubs and bars.

Born 6th August 1996, to Mr. Nyesigye Alex and Mrs Kebalaza Betty of Kawempe Ttula, Mujuni Victor is the 2nd born of his parents five off springs. He went to Yudesi Nursery and primary school, City view high school for his o-Level and Midland high school Kawempe for his A-Level. After senior six, his love for music deterred him from joining campus. He instead joined Global institute of information and Technology for a diploma in ICT due to his parent’s demands.

Being a lover of music, victor first yearned to be a hip hop star as he emulated Niki Minaj and Lil Wyne. It was from the American Rapper Lil Wyne’s name that he formed his first fame name.

‘I got Muvistar name from the first two letters of my two names. Mujuni Victor and star. I always wanted to be a star. Before, I was called Lil Muvistar from Lil Wyne’s name.’

He started writing his own songs in 2012 during his senior four vacation the same period he Joined Jim City his OB who had already ventured into the industry. The young rapper’s first song ‘blow money’ was produced by Zuli terms while he was still at song factory studios in Ntinda.

Asked why he dropped singing for promotion, Mujuni said artistes invest a lot in music yet take long to enjoy from it which is a different case with promotion.

‘I realized promotion did not require too much input so I quit my own music to promote Jim City.

When asked why he still does promotion yet he spent some good years pursuing ICT, Victor had this to say

‘I was already a promoter even before I studied ICT. I officially started promoting in my form four vacation so there was no way I could let go of music for ICT’

He draws his inspiration from his love for music, the existence of young talents urges him to keep pushing to the top.

Started with Jim City, today, Muvistar has promoted Fyonna Nsubuga, Naira Ali, Henry Katamba, Shy K music, Brian Weiyz, Joe Gaya, Queen Monster, Team GoodGuyz, Ugandan Ladies, Eddy Scott and Bennie Gunter. He does online, ground and media promotion.

Muvistar prefers promoting upcoming artistes to the self made stars. He says they are easy to push and promote since they are a little green about the industry.

Much as he is so much into music, his parents never supported him from the start but the fact that he always engaged in entertainment during his school times helped the gradual growth of their support and they in.

‘I proved to them that this is what I always wanted. Good thing I studied ICT a course of their choice.’

For those wondering how he connects with the artistes he promotes, Mujuni revealed that musicians contact him willingly after following his work.

‘Artistes follow me on my social media handles, confirm my capabilities and contact me for business’

His worst experience was when FyonnaNsubuga’s manager tried to imprison him yet he had failed to pay for his services. He artistes should be fully prepared before asking promoters’ services otherwise things will always get worse.

At 23years, Victor has managed to put up his own Boutique ‘Muvistar collection’ made celebrity friends, become famous and started an NGO dubbed MuvistarsaveLife foundation.

He advises aspiring promoters to start now since there are many artistes who need to be promoted. He however cautions them to be very patient and focused for some artistes can be very sturbborn.
