UK boosts security at Entebbe Airport

UK transport security expert Clive Write shakes hands with CAA Managing Director Rama Makuza after handing over the equipment

The British High Commission in Uganda has donated an assortment of security equipment that will be used to detect explosives and other dangerous objects that may be used by ill-intention persons to cause problems to air passengers or the aircraft .

The donation was handed over to the Managing Director of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Dr. Rama Makuza by Clive Wright, the head of International Strategy Team in the UK’s Department of Transport.

The donation includes 75 big x-ray trays, 2 stand Test Pieces for x-ray machines one walk through metal detector  as well as one hand held metal detector

According to the Dr. Makuza, equipment’s uses state-of-the art- technology to check the contents of luggage without opening it as well as tracing other suspicious gadgets.

Mukuza further noted that a team from UK has offered to train Civil Aviation security team in how to use the newly installed Gadgets.
