Omusinga of the Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Mumbere has been granted bail by the Jinja High Court.

Justice Micheal Elubu of Jinja High Court on Monday ordered the release of Omusinga Mumbere on a non cash bail of Shs100m.

The Omusinga who has been held at both Nalufenya police station and Luzira Prison on remand since November last year is facing charges of terrorism, murder and robbery among others.

His sureties including his brother Christopher Kyabazanga, were each bonded with a non cash bail of Shs100m.

People leave court after the Omusinga was granted bail.

However, court set a number of conditions for his release including the continued presence of the UPDF around him to guarantee his security. UPDF will be assisted by police.

Additionally, the Omusinga’s movements have been restricted to within Kampala, Wakiso and Jinja districts. He has been barred from going or coming near to the Rwenzori region.

He is also required to report to Jinja Chief Magistrates Court and at CID headquarters in Kampala.
State Attorney Grace Ntege Nabaggala told court they would not stand in the Omusinga’s bail application provided he accepts to follow the terms set by the State.
