Church, community banishes girl for suspected LGBT
Church usher (24) identified as Nakimuli Ruth was allegedly embroiled in distress following allegations that she is part of Gay community in Entebbe – Wakiso District. According to Birabwa Grace a fellow Church usher Ruth was earlier these week chased from church over rumors that she had also started a relationship with a one Amute Jovia .
Insiders indicate who was last seen at Kireka a Kampala suburb with a friend and she has since went absent with close friends indicating that Ruth has been receiving life threats from church community after challenging the pastor that LGBT people were also created by God vowing to work with them.
Even though Ruth is reportedly not receiving threats from family, it is understood that her family is also isolated in church with emerging information indicating that she was also reported to police at Kawafu – Katabi in Wakiso district.
In 2017 there was rage over the Ugandan government’s decision to cancel a week of gay pride celebrations in the country for a second consecutive year, describing the move as a violation of fundamental human rights of minority groups.
The state minister of ethics and integrity, Simon Lokodo, issued a directive shutting down a gala, accusing the organisers of attempting to stage an illegal gathering aimed at recruitment, exhibition and promotion of homosexuality.
