Namuganza picks forms to battle Kadaga in NRM CEC
The State minister for Lands, Ms Persis Namuganza, has picked nomination forms for the position of NRM 2nd National Vice-Chairperson (Female) two days after Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, picked expression of interest forms for the same position.
Ms Namuganza after picking her forms, told journalists, that it is time for younger leaders like her to take on the mantle of the party leadership and drive the political organisation since they have been groomed by the party.
“I have grown through the ranks of the NRM youth league and feel this is our time to tale om the mantle, I feel I have what it takes in this field” she said.
Namuganza added “This is the time for us to bring back the disgruntled youths that have crossed over to some pressure groups but also work on their hurting issues”.
However this is seen as a move which may resurrect the old feud between the two powerful women from Busoga.
Kadaga and Namuganza’s conflicts started in 2018 at a function to launch boreholes in Namuganza’s Bukono Constituency, Namutumba District, where the minister reportedly told off Kadaga and Busoga king Gabula Nadiope to concentrate on ‘fighting jiggers in Kamuli’, which to her are a serious threat than ‘poking their noses’ into Namutumba affairs.
