Six dead, 7 rescued from collapsed building in Kisenyi
Uganda Police force said it has recovered six bodies from a collapsed four-storeyed building in Kisenyi after a rescue operation by Police, Uganda Red Cross and the community.
Uganda Police force said the dead included a five men and one woman.
The operation that was led by the Uganda Police Fire brigade had by Sunday evening recovered seven people and are currently admitted at Mulago but in critical condition.
Although the building collapsed during a heavy downpour, eye witnesses pointed to unprofessional workmanship that was characterized by inadequate cement use in the concrete mix and hesty construction.
Most of the victims of the deadly incident however were ordinary hustlers like Boda Boda riders and fruit vendors who had taken shelter in the unfinished building.
The collapsed building also destroyed two vehicles that had been parked nearby.
