Kenneth Mugabi’s performance could make you fall in love!

While most Ugandan concerts will sound quite foreign, with pre-recorded drums, guitars and the rest, Kenneth Mugabi’s maiden concert “Strings of my Soul” on Independence eve at the National Theatre was simply a home thing.

Much as Ugandans are to love of Bang music, their attendance at Mugabi’s concert manifested that they know how to embrace talent.

Gates were open by 7pm as the program had been designed and by 8pm, the house was almost full.

At around half past eight, the master of ceremony Richard Tuwangye of Fun Factory came on stage with a followspot. The stage beamed. He looked amazed by the turn up.

Strings of my Soul was indeed the best tag for the concert. From the lyrics to the instruments, to the facial expressions Lord oh Lord! Kenneth’s performance could make you fall in love.

He performs with such passion. Most of Kenneth’s tunes are tender. You missed him perform “Amaasogotulo” It was thumbs up from the lovers in the hall.

For two hours we were sailing with sweet music. Many male artists move women but Mugabi moved both gender. His songs Kibunoomu, Nambi, Nkwegomba, Omusheshe, Ritah and Naki could not leave the audience seated. Many wished the theatre had a bigger space for them to sway.

Mugabi performed with Kemba Band and shared stage with Canan Gents, an acapella group, Shebah Mwiza who perfomed Kajanja, a song written by Keneth Mugabi, and Shefah Musisi who perfomed ebilowoozo and owoluganda.
