Mystery Surrounds Death of CBS Journalist Jimmy Ssekabito After Alleged Boda-Boda Fall
The Uganda Police Force has launched a full investigation into the sudden death of Jimmy Ssekabito, a prominent journalist with CBS Radio, who tragically died on Friday after allegedly falling off a boda-boda in Kampala. The puzzling aspect of the case is the absence of any visible external injuries on the deceased, raising questions about the exact circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
Ssekabito, 45, a resident of Gayaza in Masaka, had travelled to Kampala to attend a wedding. Initial reports suggest he fell from a motorcycle taxi at approximately 6:00 AM on Friday, near the Uganda Red Cross Society offices on Rubaga Road. Bystanding boda-boda riders immediately rushed him to Rubaga Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short while later.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that police were promptly notified and dispatched a team to the scene. “The body was examined and showed no external injuries,” Onyango stated, adding, “A death inquiry file was opened to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.”
The body was subsequently transferred from Rubaga Hospital to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to shed light on the cause of death. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are reportedly examining various aspects of the incident.
The media fraternity across Uganda is in mourning following the loss of Ssekabito. However, conflicting accounts surrounding the incident have emerged, intensifying the calls for a thorough and transparent investigation.
