“Anfield to Honor Jota: Sculpture, Mosaic & ‘Forever 20’ Badge” – Liverpool’s lasting tribute

Liverpool FC has unveiled plans to honor Diogo Jota (who tragically died in a car crash along with his brother André Silva on July 3, 2025) with a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield.
Throughout the 2025–26 season, players will don a “Forever 20” emblem on their shirts and stadium jackets. Also ahead of their season opener against Bournemouth on August 15, Liverpool will hold a minute’s silence and reveal a fan mosaic dedicated to Jota.
Thousands of heartfelt tributes including flowers, scarves, cards, and banners were left outside Anfield after the brothers’ deaths. These items have been carefully collected; floral tributes will be composted for use in the club’s flower beds, while other objects will be recycled into the upcoming sculpture.
In a historic first, Liverpool has retired the No. 20 shirt permanently across all levels—first team, women’s squad, and academy—after consulting with Jota’s wife and family.
Fans may option to print “Diogo J. 20” on jerseys purchased in club stores, with all profits directed to the LFC Foundation, which has launched a grassroots football initiative in his name.
Similar floral tributes will take place before kickoff at pre‑season friendlies in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and at Anfield.
Even as the season approaches, the impact of Jota’s passing remains deeply felt among fans and players—his absence on the squad list still resonates profoundly.
