Uganda Christian University (UCU) is in deep mourning after the tragic killing of its Dean of Students Affairs, Pamela Tumwebaze, following a violent attack at her home in Mukono. Multiple reports indicate that she was assaulted by unknown assailants during the night and later died from her injuries after being rushed to hospital.
In a statement shared by UCU, the institution expressed profound shock and sadness at her death, describing her as a beloved colleague, sister, and friend whose life was brutally cut short by intruders.
The university highlighted Tumwebaze’s role as one of its youngest leaders in student affairs, noting her kindness, compassion, and the positive impact she had on students and staff across the campus.
Rev. Prof. John Kitayimbwa, a senior cleric at UCU, urged the community to pray for strength and reflected on her loss with a biblical quote, emphasizing the shock felt by students, faculty, and alumni.
Police, including officers from Mukono and forensic teams, were reported to be at the scene as investigations into the attack continue, with no official motive or suspects released at the time of reporting.
UCU extended its condolences to Tumwebaze’s children, family, and loved ones, and said that further details will be communicated in due course.
