
The Bank of Uganda has confirmed an incident of unlawful entry at its head office in Kampala, where seven laptop computers were stolen.
In a public notice issued today, the central bank stated that the break-in is believed to have occurred overnight at its premises located on Kampala Road, near City Square. The offices are situated between Church House and the East African Development Bank Tower.
According to the statement, the incident was detected in the morning, prompting immediate action. The Bank of Uganda confirmed that investigations are currently underway, with the institution working closely with relevant security agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the break-in and identify those responsible.
Despite the incident, the central bank reassured the public that its core operations and services remain fully functional and have not been affected.
“The BoU assures the public that its core operations and services remain fully functional and have not been disrupted by this incident,” the notice stated.
The bank also indicated that further updates will be provided as more information becomes available, while thanking the public for its continued trust and patience.
