Uganda Airlines Restores London and Mumbai Flights After Wet-Lease Deal With Ethiopian Airlines
Uganda Airlines has announced the reinstatement of its long-haul passenger flights to London and Mumbai, following a temporary disruption that affected the airline’s international operations.
In a travel update issued on March 5, 2026, the national carrier confirmed that flights on the two key international routes will resume effective March 7, 2026.
The airline expressed appreciation to passengers for their patience during the disruption and confirmed that affected travelers will be offered free ticket revalidation.
“We sincerely appreciate the patience, loyalty, and continued support of our guests during the recent temporary disruptions,” the airline said in the statement.
Why the flights were disrupted
The flights were temporarily disrupted after two of the airline’s wide-body aircraft were grounded for unscheduled maintenance, affecting key international routes including London and Mumbai.

Uganda Airlines secures Dreamliner through wet lease
To ensure continuity of its long-haul operations, Uganda Airlines also announced a short-term partnership with Ethiopian Airlines to wet lease a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The arrangement, which took effect on March 7, will support the airline’s international routes while improving operational reliability.
According to the airline, the temporary deal will allow it to maintain service standards and reduce disruptions on its long-haul network.
“This short-term arrangement ensures operational continuity on the airline’s long-haul routes while enhancing network reliability and service delivery for our valued passengers,” Uganda Airlines said in a public notice.
A wet lease arrangement typically means the aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance are provided by the leasing airline, enabling the partner carrier to continue operating flights without interruption.
Dubai route still under monitoring
While flights to London and Mumbai are set to resume, the airline said operations to Dubai are still being closely monitored.
Uganda Airlines advised passengers traveling to Dubai to regularly check the airline’s official website and social media platforms for the latest updates.
The Middle East route remains an important part of the airline’s network connecting East Africa to the Gulf region.
Support for affected passengers
Passengers whose travel plans were affected by the disruptions can access free ticket revalidation through the airline’s customer support channels.
Uganda Airlines said its Global Call Centre remains available 24 hours a day for assistance, alongside support through travel agents.
Customers can also contact the airline via email or WhatsApp for further travel updates.
The reinstatement of the London and Mumbai routes marks an important step in restoring the airline’s long-haul schedule and maintaining connectivity between Uganda and key global destinations.
