Bishop urges on Unity
The Bishop of Bukedi Diocese Rt Rev Samuel George Bogere Egesa has asked Christians to avoid differences because of their geographical and or backgrounds because there is one church built on the foundation of Jesus Christ.
Bishop Egesa was on Sunday addressing guests who joined his family in a grand thanks-giving ceremony held at his ancestral home of Bukiiri in Bugiri District.
Egesa, then the church will grow and society will be transformed.
“I am now a Bishop of Bukedi but I trace all by successful story to becoming this from Busoga here.
Though my parents had their origin from Bukedi, I was born in Busoga studied in Busoga and Busoga Diocese mentored me right from a church teacher to becoming a Bishop, all this is because the binding factor is Christ and not one’s origin” he said.
The man of God stressed the need for Christians to always give thanks to God and to fellow people where it’s due.
“Giving thanks is a sign of appreciation and glorification and it motivates whoever is thanked, so it is to God especially to a man like me whose father died when I was only three days,” he noted.
He was thanking God for the numerous achievements including his two and half years of service as Bishop and four of his children who graduated from various universities.
The woman Member of Parliament for Butaleja district Florence Nebanda, hailed the unity in the church of Christians in Bukedi saying there is a clear landmark.
“I am grateful that the church is now together and I thank you for playing the right role in the church of bringing all people together.
You have cleared the ground for us politicians to cause development in the area,” she added.
