Ishma Mafabi Youth Mp Eastern

The returning officer for eastern region Apollo Musinguzi declared Ishma Mafabi as the elected youth member of parliament for eastern region.

In a hotly contested race held at YMCA conference centre in Jinja town, Mafabi an independent candidate polled 752 to trounce his rivals.

According to the results announced by Musinguzi, NRM’s Dorothy Okware garnered 428 votes, and Idi Ouma of opposition Forum for Democratic change got 03 votes.

Others in the race were Romeo Mabanda who polled 02 votes, Herbert Amenya 10 votes and Masitula Namatovu with 201 all independent.

Youth from the 32 districts of Eastern Uganda have since Wednesday camped in Jinja to elect their member of parliament.

The elections were postponed after a petition by the elect over exclusion of his name on the voters’ register until the matter was settled and his name restored.

Another FDC inclined independent candidate Fred Mutibwa Wamange withdrew his candidature at the last minute citing irregularities in the FDC primaries in which Ouma was given the party ticket saying he
had other better for am in the party to serve the country.

Mafabi who hails from Busia district now replaces Peter Ogwang who was recently elected Member of Parliament for Usuk in Katakwi district
