There was pain and weeping as young boys and young girls who had turned up for the recruitment of senior four and senior six leavers into the UPDF were disqualified on various grounds.

Over four hundred  applicants had shown interest for the fourty five positions for Nebbi, Pakwach and Zombo Districts whose recruitment exercise was held at the District headquarters in Nebbi town.

During the exercise candidates where involved in vigorous activities that included verification of documents, oral tests,10km road run and a general medical check up.

The road run sieved over twenty out of the race, yet others lacked identification and over qualification were some of the major challenges that the candidates faced.

Akumu Getrude a 26 year old and resident within the municipal was joined by her family members in weeping as she was disqualified for over qualification.

Getrude noted that, getting employment was not easy and this was the only hope for the family to join the force in order for them to come out of suffering and poverty that they have lived in for all this time.

According to the spokesperson Recruitment team, Sande Geoffrey he disclosed that, only 32 out of the 400 were screened and emerged to be the successful candidates indicating a shortfall of 3 against the target of 35 for the three Districts.

He however urged the residents and other unsuccessful candidates not to loose hope but try their luck next year.
