MP cautions parents on the girl child
The Woman MP for Sironko district Florence Nambozo has cautioned parents to begin teaching and grooming their girl children while still at home instead of thinking that teachers will teach them at school.
Nambozo made the remarks during the Islamic University Bamasaba Students’ Association handover party last week.
“The mothers should counsel, advise and instill morals in the girl child. We need to show them the values of patience instead of thinking that teachers shall teach them,” she said.
She added: “With the changing world today girls needs to be spoken to that she is the mother of tomorrow so it is we the mothers to create a better and stronger foundation for our daughters.”
Nambozo applauded the female students of the Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) for the “good and respectful dress code” that she said had made them smarter than any other institution.
“Today many people still think that we are vulnerable. Many still think that when the lady says NO she means YES but things have now changed. The trend is different. We can now see women in different positions in the government,” Nambozo told the students.
