Events promoter Bajjo out of Luzira, at least for now
Buganda Road Chief Magistrate, Stella Amabilis, has granted bail to Andrew Mukasa a.k.a Bajjo, the proprietor of Bajjo events, after a cash payment of UGX 4m.
Bajjo was arrested on June 15 this year at Centenary Park in Kampala by security operatives after a press conference.
Bajjo and colleague Abby Musinguzi a.k.a Abitex had talked of plans to organise a marathon aimed at raising funds for musician turned politician Bobi Wine who is currently banned from holding music shows because of his political work.
Bajjo was charged with inciting violence which is contrary to section 83(i) of the Penal Code Act due to a video which he released via social media threatening to end President Museveni’s regime before 2021.
His bail came after his lawyer Elias Lukwago submitted to the Chief Magistrate that a bail is a constitutional right to every Ugandan.
The court retained the original national identity cards of the three sureties and they were also ordered to pay non cash bail of UGX 20m each.
The case shall be heard again on July 25, 2019.
