Uganda tops group after victory over Malawi
Uganda is now top of Group B following a convincing victory over Malawi in the second game of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers played yesterday at Namboole stadium.
Uganda Cranes bagged two goals to nothing against Malawi’s The Flames in a dominant game that earned new Coach Johnny Mckinstry his first home win in charge of the national side.
Uganda’s goals came through striker Emmanuel Okwi in the 29th minute while Fahad Bayo made a second half stunner strike that sealed victory for the Cranes.
Cranes are now top of the group B with 4 points while Burkinafaso are placed second with the same number of points but with a inferior goal difference with Uganda.
In the group’s other game Burkinafaso beat South Sudan 2:1 away at Juba National Stadium.
Malawi are placed third with 3 points while South Sudan are bottom of the group without a point.
