Drogba was a total disappointment
This World Cup being played in Brazil started with a lot of promise for Africa. We boasted of great teams in the names of
Cameroon, Nigeria and Ivory Coast.
But we also fielded some of the world’s greatest players like Dideir Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Toure. I particularly invested
my hopes in Didier Drogba to shine and bring Africa glory, but I have been terribly disappointed.
Didier and his team-mates have been a shadow of themselves. There are allegations that these Stars of Africa were paid not to score at all.
How could a team like Greece which I even believe Uganda Cranes can floor, beat a team of Ivory Coasts’ stature? A team with no single name to its credit, I listened to the names in their line up and I cannot even pronounce any name.
Can such a team beat seasoned players like Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure?
God Save, Africa! Our stars have disappointed us.
