Introduce physical exercise across all employment sectors
It seems that the one person, who is trying to tackle the problem of lack of exercise among the Civil Servants, is Pius Bigirimana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Gender. He has been taking his Ministry staff on a course of exercise every Friday evening since 2015.
Where as this usage of Government time is beneficial to the staff, it mean that the ministry’s work suffers somewhat. Nevertheless, it cannot be too much in a situation where, in the Public Service, people no longer bother about the time for reporting for work, or knocking off for the day.
If it will help the Government workers to be healthy and live longer lives, so be it. The Ministry of Health should have been at the forefront of this advice and practice. And they should even encourage the Private Sector to practice this exercise regimen. Hurray to Bigirimana.
