Ramaphosa’s charm offensive is aimless

Sounth African President Cyril Ramaphosa

Sounth African President Cyril Ramaphosa

The recent reports from the South Africans is that their President, Cyril Ramaphosa  is on a charm offensive to many African states to try to repair the tattered image his violent countrymen have visited on other Africans who have migrated to do business there.  The usual argument proffered for the violence of South Africa men is that it is a carryover from the suffering the Apartheid regime visited on the country for up to a century.

So in the 25 years or so, a generation, what has the African National Congress of: Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki, Jacob Xuma and, now, Ramaphosa done to moralize the country? I always tell people that if you marry a South African woman, the likelihood is that she has been raped. There are about four rapes visited on women in the country every hour.

And there are murders every five or so seconds in the country. Ramaphosa should have known that he was simply sitting on a xenophobic powder-keg. Instead of Ramaphosa going around Africa apologizing for the grizzly behavior of his compatriots, he should tour the country arresting all the evil South African men likely to cause havoc on, not merely the foreign Africans there, but also on the South Africans, themselves.
