Uganda Airlines has announced the return to service of its wide-body aircraft 5X-NIL, an Airbus A330-800neo, marking a significant milestone in strengthening its international operations and fleet capacity.
In an official operational update, the airline stated: “We are pleased to announce the return to service of 5X-NIL, our Airbus A330-800neo. The aircraft successfully operated its first flight to Dubai on 17 April 2026, marking an important milestone in strengthening capacity across our international network. We extend our sincere appreciation to our customers, partners, and stakeholders for their continued patience and support as we remain committed to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient operations.”
The successful flight to Dubai on 17 April 2026 confirms the aircraft’s return to active service after a period of unavailability. The development strengthens Uganda Airlines’ long-haul operations, particularly on key international routes such as Entebbe–Dubai.
Broader aviation market trends show that the return of a wide-body aircraft like the Airbus A330-800neo significantly improves passenger and cargo capacity, enhances scheduling flexibility, and strengthens competitiveness on long-haul routes. Wide-body aircraft play a central role in connecting African carriers to major global business, tourism, and trade hubs.
The update also reinforces Uganda Airlines’ focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency as it continues to expand and stabilize its international network. The restoration of 5X-NIL to service adds operational strength at a time when demand for long-haul connectivity remains important for regional and global travel.
