Eddy Kenzo scoops first BET gong in East Africa
Uganda’s Edirisa Musuuza, known mostly as Eddy Kenzo has entered history books by becoming the first East African to win an award at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards held in America’s entertainment city of Los Angeles.
Kenzo won the award in the Best New International Artist, thanks to his global hit Sitya Loss which spread like wild fire on online video channel Youtube last year.
Kenzo’s victory surprised many by eclipsing much more established artists like Jose Chameleon, Babe Cool and several other musicians in East Africa who’ve never won the award.
Kenzo wrote on his facebook page thus: “Before I say anything let me dedicate this award to all Ugandans wherever you are in the world. It has been a long journey; it is the first of its kind in East Africa. Uganda really needed this. To all my fans all over the world, thank you. I am coming home. God is greatest.”
