Kajura’s wife loses Ushs80m to conmen
Regina Kajura, search wife of former first Deputy Premier Henry Muganwa Kajura is counting her losses after she was lured into investing into a dubious deal by conmen that included a Mzungu.
The old woman lost a whopping Ushs80m to men led by a Mzungu who fooled her that they were selling two sites with valuable stones demanded by road construction companies.
It all started when swindlers accosted Regina with irresistible news of the existence of two stone quarries in Kapapi and Kigorobya in Hoima that were on sale.
The conmen are reported to have asked Regina to release Ushs80m to go towards paying brokers who had sourced for the lucrative business.
Unsuspicious of any dishonesty, Regina is said to have moved to the bank and cashed the conmen who left loaded never to return to deliver on the two stone sites for which they had received the funds.
Regina recorded a statement at Hoima Police station where a case file was opened. News coming through indicates that seven men have since been netted by police in Hoima in connection with this con plot.
We have been able to establish names of three names of the suspected fraudsters. They are Rashid Kwizera, Nicholas Mukyakazi and another identified only as Magyezi.
The CIID chief of Hoima, Zachariah Mbabazi confirmed this report: “We are holding three suspects and hunting for others,” said the CIID chief.
We understand that Regina has since written a statement saying the people who conned her were in company of a White man who remains at large.
