Security tight in Mbale ahead of festive season
Mathias Turyasingura, the Mbale district police commander (DPC) unveiled the new security strategy that they (police) are implementing to ensure peaceful celebrations of the forth coming festive seasons.
The DPC revealed this in the press conference that the police held at the Mbale municipal council today’s morning.
According to Turyasingura, Mbale region shall be split into zones to ensure that security is provided effectively. “Each division in the munispality shall be given a commander that is industrial division, Northern division and the wanale division” he noted
How it shall be organised

according to Mathias, the command centre for industrial division shall be at the central pplce station commanded by Cardet Mwesigwa Emmanuel. ” I will give them a full section of police, man power from UPDF,ten motorcycles and a patrol vehicle
Northern division shall also be given a section, UPDF,a patrol vehicle, motor bikes and traffic since its on the Mbale-Soroti highway with their command centre at Nkoma police station.
And the Wanale division whose command centre has been place at Busamaga police post shall be commanded by Orama Martin who has been given a full section, UPDF and a patrol vehicle

The DPC added that the deployment shall be done even in constituencies and town councils in Mbale district
in Bungokho south constituency, the command centre shall be placed in Nauyo station and Busiu police stationgiven police officers, UPDF, a patrol vehicle each.
In Bunghokho north, The command centre is at Nakaloke town council given the police manpower, UPDF, a patrol vehicle and four motorbikes.
He also warned all commanders of different command centres to keep their phones on since failure to do so shall be counted as committing treason. ” if you switch off your phone you will be have betrayed the entire division and you shall be charged with treason ” he noted. “I therefore call upon all of you to go and sensitize the concerned stake holders” he noted.
Mathias also told the press that Performers who wish to perform in public gatherings in these festive days like Christmas shall seek clearance from the Inspector General of Police not from the district as per the directives given to them by their bosses.
He added that spraying of fire works and burning of tyres during new years eve is strictly out of bounds.
