MTN Uganda confirms deportation of two Foreigners

MTN Uganda publicist Val Okecho on Tuesday 22nd confirms the deportation of the two senior managers at the leading telecom company in the country but further details were not provided.

On Saturday 19 January the MTN Uganda chief marketing chief officer Olivia Printout was arrested by police at Entebbe airport upon arrival from a business trip.

On Monday morning 21st January 2019 the MTN Uganda head of sales and distribution Annie Bilenge Tabuura was also arrested by security personnel upon arrival at the MTN headquarter offices in Kololo Kampala.

Tabuura joined MTN Uganda from sister company MTN Rwanda last year. She held the same position at MTN Rwanda.

Both Prentout and Tabuura have been deported from Uganda to their home countries France and Rwanda respectively

Deputy police spokesperson Polly Namaye said the deportation of the two has been followed by security agencies in close coordination with immigration officers

“We want to commend the directorate of immigration and citzenship control for strengthening the screening procedure at all boarder points” Namaye stated.

” We strongly believe that the deportation of the two Foreigners who were using their employment as tool to achieve their employment as tool to achieve their ill motives has enabled us disrupt their intended plan of compromising our own national security” she added
