Breaking Bobi Wine’s car window was a poor decision, Police admit

Police has finally admitted that breaking the car window of the Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi by security operatives was a poor decision.

Addressing journalists on May 6, 2019, at the police headquarters in Naguru, the  Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said that officers erred.

“The issue of breaking and entering especially in such situations is the last resort but at this stage it still early. It does not require that amount of force,” Enanga said.

Kyagulanyi’s window was smashed during his arrest after the cancelation of his Kyalenga Extra concert recently in Busabala.

Enanga’s remarks came after the president condemned the breaking of Bobi Wine’s car window by the security operatives.

“I also disapprove of the method the Police used to break the glass of Bobi Wine’s car. They should have towed the vehicle to wherever they wanted him to be. I do not watch TV most of the time because of work,” Museveni said in a statement issued on Saturday May 4, 2019.

Enanga also agreed with the president’s statement that using breakdown could have been a better option.

“We have been using breakdowns in such situations because whenever we bring the breakdown these people surrender but this shows that it was poor police decision making,” Enanga said.
