Cabinet Approves 35 Billions For Mulago Completion

The government of the Republic of Uganda has approved 35 billion shillings for the completion of the ongoing works at the New Mulago specialize hospital

The government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo while presenting the weekly cabinet decisions at the Uganda media center announced that cabinet approved the monies to facilitate and speed up the works at the national hospital

We are aware some works at Mulago are not yet done and this is due to the delay of funds from government but cabinet yesterday directed the ministry of finance and treasury to release 35 billion shillings to Mulago”. Said Opondo

Earlier in April the Executive director of Mulago hospital Dr Byarugaba Baterana during a media tour at Mulago hospital said that Mulago needs over 38Billions in order to commence works

“Over 38 Billion shillings is needed for the final completion mainly in areas of window modification. Sub tanks, road network, specialized finishes, doors, floor finishes and theater lights pendants, monitor panels, solar panels and water solar heating among other equipment “said Dr. Baterana.

Renovation Works at Mulago Hospital  started in 2016 and initially was planned to last for three years and upon completion , the hospital will be a specialized national hospital carrying out specialized surgeries, Organ transplants, DNA testing modern theatres connected to other international hospitals and an Intergrated modern security system among others

The hospitals will also employe 3075 staff where 1000 will be doctors from special units and different learning centers.
